Have you tried Portuguese knitting, very low stress on hands and fingers.

Maybe line only the bottom/skirt of the dress and wear either a cami under, or a sweater over the top?

The linen looks very pretty. I Might choose Yarn like that, for a summer Ranunculus. 40 stitches short: It occurs to me that the yoke of your sweater does not show the right number of 4-leafed flowers (should be 30). However, it does show the right number of “rosebuds” (SECTION 3: Yoke, row 2, should also be 30) Look closely: exactly between each 4-leafed flower, you should find a rosebud, juist two inches above it. In your yoke they do not follow that rithm. Right under the rosebud you should count 5 stiches, but I only see 4. So I think you accidentally skipped row 8: (K3, RLI, k1) repeat to end. And, I have the impression you also skipped row 9 (and 10?).

Be patient with yourself! Last fall I changed to Norwegian style knitting. It was a big change but so totally worth it. Your gauge will get better as you go.

Hi Jillian! Tammi here from the Wool and Wine podcast. You should calculate how many inches/stitches you would like to decrease. There should be at least 2 plain rows between decrease rows. You might consider making the decreases a few inches away from the sides on both front and back. It will look more like a design detail and keep the sides from having a jagged look.

I think you Felix looks perfect as is! That's just one random viewer's opinion. If you aren't happy with it, rip back. I would be curious to know how much length you are able to gain with a few sets of decreases...it doesn't seem like it would be significant, but maybe I'm wrong.

Yes, you should always use polyester thread however there is some cotton coated polyester thread. Cotton thread deteriorates so much quicker than the government so it’s not wise to use even if you’re using natural fiber garment. I always use Guetterman thread. You can get it at Joannes or WAWAK which has quality sewing supplies that cost way less than at Joannes. What is a good secondhand store in Sacramento? The goodwill near me is horrible

Color makes me happy and Jillian makes me happy!!! :D Start the waist shaping after widest bust circumference. I like the idea of cotton thread, but you've got to keep in mind that it will shrink. I think that's why some quilters like it, because it adds to the puckering of a quilt after it's been washed. Even if the fabric you're sewing is cotton, the thread and fabric will shrink at different rates. <3

Just came across your site and truly enjoyed it. Regarding your dress; many dressmakers will line the body itself but not the sleeves. Also the lining many times only comes to the knees rather than the entire length of the dress. You could also just make a black slip or buy one that would serve the same purpose and make it easier. Hope this helps. Diane from Boston

Another motivation technique I use is weaving in my ends as I go so I don’t have a lot of ends when almost finished. Using the Weavin’ Stephen method from Stephen West.
